Tartan VS. Solid?

I'm so confused

Grant, Grant... such a brave confession!


Does it feel more tartan or more solid when you put it on?

Do you feel the need to search for the answer in an expanding square pattern, a creeping line pattern, or do you call out the dogs?

(OK, enough bad allusions to our mutual SAR work.)


As for me, I like to wear both at the office - though the solid olive mocker was the first to debut there. (The solid kilts seem to bring more "he can wear a kilt, why can't I wear jeans" kinds of remarks at work than the tartans do, which is interesting, but neither here nor there for this thread.)

Out in the woods I think I prefer the solids, if only because I'm less concerned about a "wait-a-minute vine" trashing a solid piece of twill than I am a much more expensive piece of wool. (Even irrational fears are still fears, no?)
