    Tank tops go well with kilts as well.

    Seriously, no one will give a damn on what you wear with your kilt. People only care what you wear underneath your kilt.

    As everyone here has said, you can wear about any shirt with a kilt, just make sure to coordinate it with the kilt's colors.

    Remember, the kilt is simply an article of clothing, not a costume or a uniform (although it could be a part of either). Unlike some other articles of clothing, you can dress it up or down, but it is still clothing.

    I can be found wearing wifebeaters quite often in the summer too.

    Other than colour coordination (I actually care about it since switching to kilts), my shirt selection hasn't changed and i will wear what I feel is appropriate to the occasion whether I am in a kilt or not.

    Not so great as it gets cooler, but one of my favorite outfits in the summer is an old Batman tank, circa the first Keaton movie, with my tan "ancient" flannel SportKilt; strictly an around home thing but comfortable and casual.
