Other than colour coordination (I actually care about it since switching to kilts), my shirt selection hasn't changed and i will wear what I feel is appropriate to the occasion whether I am in a kilt or not.

Dickies
I rather like my Dickies work shirt. It is button down cotton twill in short sleeves. You can pick them up rather inexpensively and they wear very well. My only issue is that none of the local retailers sell them in small so I only own one in grey that is embroidered with the Hot Rod's Power Tour logo.

When I saw the "dickies" in the title of your post I immediately thought you were going to espouse the virtues of these...
Not one of fashions best moments if I do say so myself.

It's a dickie. A fake shirt front you wear under a sweater or other outer garment so it looks like you're wearing a turtleneck when you aren't.

Dickies really went out of "style" in the early 80s if my memory serves me correct. And thank God for that.

Ya, I remember seeing those from when I was a little kid. I think they died off with the seventies... I remember looking at one my mother had and thinking it was a knitted hat that hadn't been closed on one end...
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

I second the comments on wearing a rugby shirt with a kilt. There are so many colors out there for various rugby teams/leagues etc. that you can almost always find a shirt to match your kilt.

I like wearing t shirts with my kilts. But I go away from the norm and wear message t shirts.

Let's see, I have worn wifebeaters, t-shirts, polos, and button-down short sleeve, and sweaters of different sorts. Just like footwear, everything from barefooted, to oxfords, to combat boots. Whatever floats your boat!
