			Gave blood today

I gave blood today, I haven't done so in a little over a year due to the NYS laws regarding tattoo's. But anyway, I have given blood plenty of times this is the first time that I have ever gotten sick from it. I have gone for up to four hours of tattoo sessions with out a problem or a break, but today after giving blood I went over to the station for cookies and started letting loose into a garbage can. I felt so bad all day that I had to leave work early came home and slept for three hours. Its been about 12 hours now and after lots of fluids and food still feel like a train ran over me.

That's too bad. Do you think you were maybe coming down with something when you went to donate? There are a lot of viruses going around this spring.
Hope you get to feeling better quickly.

I don't think I could ever do that, I don't like needles. Good for you.

Try not to think of the needles. Instead, think of the lives you'll help save!

Keith, I hope you're up and about today, and your old self, saving us New Yawkers from the bad guys, even if from behind a desk!

Was the phlebotomist any good? I've had some that were so good, I barely felt the prick of the needle, and then I've had others that practically chewed my arm up looking for a perfectly good vein. The latter can certainly raise your stress level and maybe even cause you to feel sick.

Maybe so, I've met a few who seemed to take a little extra delight in seeing my blood!

Good for you Keith. I have not donated in sometime due to similar tattoo rules. In BC it just changed from 1 year wait to 6 months so I should be good now. I have never been sick, but when I do donate I bruise like a peach.
As I said I haven't given blood in a long while, but I did register yesterday (and did the cotton swap test) as a bone marrow donor. MY friend's 3 year old son has Leukemia (one of the most common and treatable childhood cancers) so it is the least I can do compared to the brave battles he has to fight weekly.
