On a side note.... the science reason you can wear a kilt - genetic differences with the human population are very, very small. We are a young species from a small founding population. Therefore, we are all related to each other. (ps I have used this one on someone who said that I did not have a Scottish accent and thus should not be wearing a kilt - they walked away in a state of confusion - I called checkmate on that one)
Have fun, walk tall and you will have a blast!
Indeed!!!

And good on you for having the courage to wear your kilt!

Edit: Here's also a link to the Red Rose of Lochbuie, a pipe band in the Neatherlands....doubt many of them are Scottish either...

From another MoL member, I remember reading somewhere that the Red Rose of Lochbuie is the official pipe band of the Clan. BTW our chief lives in South Africa, not Scotland. I'm sure there is a story there, but I do not know it.

The chief of the O'Callaghans lives in Spain! In fact he's also a Spanish 'Don' as well as the head of an Irish clan at the same time, so he's both Irish and Spanish nobility. The next time you pass a Carlos O'Kelly restaurant (I've seen them but never been in one) remember that truth is stranger then fiction.

The Chief of the Lamonts is a Catholic priest living in Australia, if memory serves me. You'll find a number of chiefs living in the Commonwealth nations due to the diaspora in the 19th century.

I have not one Scottish drop in my blood (mainly viking and celtic) so I'm thinking of the comments; ''Why are you wearing a kilt? You'r not Scottish!''
Do you guys think it's okay for a none Scottish person to wear a Scottish outfit with a tartan kilt to, for example, a wedding?
Remember: the Irish wear Kilts, too. I'm mostly Irish. Pretty sure I've got some Scottish blood, but not 100% sure (don't have a great record of my family's heritage).
BUT, it doesn't matter your heritage, a kilt is a man's garment for Real Men.

I was told by what I am sure is a highly impeachable source, that type "O" is more common among Celts. . . . . you might want to check yours

Wear IT
Wear it and be proud. This coming from someone 100% - more or less - German, and Scots-Irish only by insertion, hehehe, my wife's lineage.

Hmmm
First, wear what you want, when you want. If you want style, and are secure, wear a kilt.
As to being Scottish. Fact - there are way more people in the US than in Scotland who claim to be Scots. My guess is Canada has a similar demography.
Many "true" Scots have deep Norse, Celt, Gaol and other roots. If someone could actually describe what is pure "Scottish" blood, my guess is that there are very, very few in the world who have it. Not too many with pure blood, but most with pure hearts.
My two cents.
