Too many choices...1st tartan Kilt

My enthusiasm is recent with the exposure here.
I liked it before, but never cared enough about clothes to learn about tweed. Having seen such wonderful examples in kilts, vests and jackets I am now kinda a convert.
I'm not a guy who enjoys formal dress, so tweed is a viable option for those RARE occasions when I need to look spiffy.

Thanks Moosedog, The advice by review is very through. I have set up my USA Kilts account and I will start measuring tomorrow. I will have to wait a couple of weeks to buy, while I wait on payroll. You know it's always something holding me back.

PS I got my "Welcome to USA Kilts message" this afternoon, so I'm on the books now.

I see you have decided on USA Kilts. I don't think you will be dissapointed. I have been very happy with my Semi-traditional. No experience with the casuals, but the PV fabric used in both is very nice, with a tight weave that can be easily dressed up or down. I used mine as the best man in a kilted wedding, and have gone hiking in it as well. It holds pleats well; I haven't needed to repress it yet, just steamed out some minor wrinkles from sitting on the pleats.

And as others have said, their customer service is excellent; questions are answered in a timely fashion, and they hold to their schedule.

I actually have the need to look spiffy on a fairly regular basis. I look best in solid colors, so it's black for me. Each to his own, though. If we all liked the same thing, life would be quite boring.

Same here! You can't go wrong with USA Kilts.

OK. I've worked it out now. I treat myself to a bottle of decent Malt about once a month. Average price £25. That's about £300 a year so... if I fore-go this pleasure and transpose the expenditure to an annual Kilt (assuming the average kilt is about £300) It will take me best part of a century to catch up with Hamish! Mmmmm... there is a flaw in this plan me thinks. I like Malt in moderation too much and there's not enough time.

Lottery!! That's the answer. Mind you at a pound a go, once a week, that's £52 a year... at odds of 24 million to one... If I give that up that's a kilt every 6 years... oh bugger!

Better just learn to handle my envy.

If you're gonna spend $200 on a kilt you can't do better than a USA Kilts semi-trad. Best quality material of the three, best quality workmanship/craftsmanship of the three, AND - you're dealing directly with the kiltmaker instead of a middleman....plus getting the kilt sewn custom to your size.

I have purchased a LOT of USA Kilts...but I didn't for my first year because I thought all the ooohs and aaahs were just hype. Then I tried one...no hype, just quality...so I bought more and more and more and more....

Reccomending you to USA Kilts is like sending you to a famous restaurant, we know you're gonna enjoy the experience and come back for more.

I've eye'd the USAK semi-trad, but they lack the tartans needed for immediate kilting so will have to wait. Looks good tho.
