I thought I would share part of the email my Mother sent to me this morning in really chaped my ****. The following is from my Mom:
"I was very disappointed and hurt that you chose today to ignore my request that you wear slacks to the dinner. I believe that it showed a lack of respect and caring for me. I had given Zachary and Raegan my word that you would be considerate of our feelings and not wear a kilt. Obviously, I was wrong. Aaron, I do not know how to relate to you. Your life seems, to me, to be a kind of theater. You dress up to wrestle and therefore become someone else's persona and I believe you do the same with the wearing of kilts. I do not mind that you on occasion wear a kilt, but this everyday thing is just plain too much for me to deal with any longer. I believe you own it to your workplace to dress in pants and shorts, even if it is a 'speciality store of sorts. I trust that you will have a much different job in the near future. One that will support your family, and I don't believe that wearing a kilt will be acceptable for that. I wonder what are you trying to escape from, that you choose to do this. It does not affect just you, as I have told you before, it brings unwanted attention to those of us who are with you. I love you very much Aaron, you ask that we respect you and yet even for one day you chose not to respect how I felt."
Just wanted you all to see this as it shows what I live with everyday, except form my wonderfull wife, son, and close friends who never have a harsh word about kilts. I am very well aware that when I go back to working in EMS or Law Enforcement that the kilt will stay at home when on duty, and I do plan on returning to one of those very soon. I just hope that someday my family can look past of what I have on and see that I am still me. Thank you all for the great comments. Best to you all.
