There was a news story in the Telegraph not too long ago concerning the Duke of Rothesay and a regimental tie:

I also believe the Duke is also the Deputy Colonel-in-Chief of the Gordons.

Not fond of the horsehair sporrans----look like three guys with ZZTop mask sporrans.

Also don't think the jackets are kilt jackets----seem a wee bit long.

what a great picture! I also think this is probably LA~ and I'm half-sure I recognise a couple of these guys, maybe they're actors. The Hills Have Eyes 2 poster ties it to 2007, if that's a clue for anyone. I'm willing to bet this was taken somewhere on or near a film-lot, and I reckon they've been dressed by a stylist, to evoke a shambolic band of highland drinking buddies. For all that it breaks a few rules of kilt etiquette, I think it's a great look, especially en masse!

Well, at least one of the subjects is probably the owner of the gallery from which the photo came, Jay Flats, perhaps comedian, veejay, "personality," producer, and miscellaneous crew.

What hits me is that it's not at all shocking to see horsehair sporrans being weared as a casual day attire.

this photo of the Duke of Rothesay ...

I had never heard of the term Duke of Rothesay before, and I have lived in Scotland for 4 years! A quick google (should it have a capital letter as a newly coined verb from a proper noun?) later and I am enlightened. Thanks McMurdo.
