An interesting way to get to the pub

What a difference in two weekends. Last weekend Hamish was here helping with the folk festival and the skies chucked it down most of the time. This weekend it has been an Indian Summer .. glorious. So we decided to head for the Red Cow Inn in a different way.
7.30am and we were having coffee in one of the many coffee houses around the central bus station

10.30am and two buses later we were in the mountains at the terminus of the Brecon Mountain Railway having a cuppa and welsh cakes in their cafe

11am the train departed .. soz no pic of train .. I have posted pics of this in the past ....

    En route ...

At the far end we got off the train and started walking .... everyone else remained on the train for the return journey ... they must have wondered where the heck we were heading ... but after a half hours walk or so we were here

And when you get there its a real fab place ... you can eat like a king (all homemade) for £3 .... and fab guest beers

This chappie is always there .. he is one of the locals dogs and is 17yrs old .... u just want to take him home .... we waits at the end of the bar for crisps.

Then it was another hike back to the bus stop ... fortunately there was a cosy pub by the bus stop ... so we decided to get a later bus (as one does) ... some great real ales

The bus stop was by a very hilly cemetery

Coming back over Dowlais Top after which we camera run out of memory .. soz

Next week there are quite a few of us going on another crusade (which will include some old holsteries n real ale) will take lots pics ..

Haven't done the Brecon Mountain for a while and never been to the Red Cow - you know all these little out of the way pubs that I never find!

Spent much of the weekend at the Ponty and Blaenafon railway as they had steam weekend!
