Losing weight for health reasons could extend your life. And more days living means more days kilting.

8. Wear your too big kilts kind of like the young kids do with their sag and bag jeans, with at least 6 inches of your boxer shorts showing above your kilt waistline and with the lower edge of your aprons about 6 inches off the floor
.... You just opened up a whole new realm of possibilties for me...I hope backwards baseball caps are still in style!

Aww...why shouldn't you wear a kilt with a flatcap? By flatcap, you mean like the one I'm wearing don't you? Hope not, that's the only headgear I wear now that I'm out of the Army.

If you're not happy with your shape, and you can healthily lose weight, do so~ don't worry about clothes. I'm not exactly massive, but for my height I'm technically obese, and losing weight would only be a good thing.

Being relatively new (I can tell by the low number of posts listed for you) you probably missed the rather sizable , well, let's just call it, DISCUSSION that was had here in several threads about the propriety or lack thereof of wearing a flat cap with a kilt. Since then it has become a recurring theme anytime anyone asks about the appropriateness of any particular piece of highland attire work with a kilt. If you do a search of the threads you should find at least two of them plus a poll---interesting and entertaining reading.
But I am with you, I love my flat caps.

I'd say listen to the Lady on this one!
Give yourself a present for the healthier you. Also, having the kilts altered is a good 'gift' too. While we're talking about gifts, as you progress and get healthier, perhaps a gift of "kilting forward" one of your larger kilts to someone who could really use it, might be another gift to share. You loose weight and feel healthier, you get a new kilt as a bonus and you contribute to good kilt karma and help out another lad.
