Jabot Styles?

I prefer the Regulation style of jabot, although the Western Isles style might work quite nicely. I'd have to see one in person to know for sure. I like a longer jabot, and narrower, and flatter!

Does anyone know if it is still possible to find a jabot made of silk?

I very much doubt it. Any I have seen look to have been made from a piece of net curtain! I tried to get some Maltese lace when I was there earlier this year as it is (or used to be) made from Spanish silk, but couldn't get any suitable. It seems they no longer make it with Maltese crosses in the style of my jabot and from the sound of things the craft is dying out.

Our jabot maker is on her way to Alaska for the summer but I'm sure this question will intrigue her. What type of silk material is used? Phil mentions silk lace -- can you confirm, or describe what you are looking for? If we can locate the material, we can certainly make it up for you -- on her return this fall, that is!

This is an example -

the silk itself is an off-white colour which is typical of Spanish silk.
