    Jabot Styles?

I keep looking at the three styles of jabot and cuff Sets at Flamingo Kilts on this page: http://www.flamingokilts.biz/7.html

Which of those three styles would look best with a formal black, dress Argyle?

For some reason I like the idea of the style that is being called "Highland Glen" (shorter and wider than the others); The regulation lace jabot sounds the safest, though.
    Thank you.

I would go for the Regulation type as well. The big, fluffy ones are not to my taste although they might suit more flamboyant individuals. Here is mine -

Ted I would go with the Regulation as well, as you say you will wear it with your Argyll the longer Regulation Jabot should, to my mind work better. The Jabot I wear is from Lady Chrystel and is close to the style of the Flamingo Kilts Regulation Jabot.

As usual we are all different with this choice, I would prefer the Highland Glen,
If I were choosing for me self! Just my opinion!

I had a feeling the flat, regulation jabot would be prefered. Thank you; I wasn't sure exactly what each style looked like, but you're filling in the details.

    Hi Ted,

I prefer the Regulation style of jabot, although the Western Isles style might work quite nicely. I'd have to see one in person to know for sure. I like a longer jabot, and narrower, and flatter!

Does anyone know if it is still possible to find a jabot made of silk?

I very much doubt it. Any I have seen look to have been made from a piece of net curtain! I tried to get some Maltese lace when I was there earlier this year as it is (or used to be) made from Spanish silk, but couldn't get any suitable. It seems they no longer make it with Maltese crosses in the style of my jabot and from the sound of things the craft is dying out.

Our jabot maker is on her way to Alaska for the summer but I'm sure this question will intrigue her. What type of silk material is used? Phil mentions silk lace -- can you confirm, or describe what you are looking for? If we can locate the material, we can certainly make it up for you -- on her return this fall, that is!

Have a look at this site. It shows two different types of Maltese lace, some in linen and some in silk which you will see is much finer - http://lace.lacefairy.com/Lace/ID/MalteseID.html
    This is an example -

the silk itself is an off-white colour which is typical of Spanish silk.
