35 years is 2 generations? You may want to double check your math. Life exspectancy was lower at that time, but....

Check your facts... Tartan Day on April 6th, was created by The Federation of Scottish Clans in Nova Scotia (FSCNS), and was spearheaded by Jean Watson, the first being held in 1987.

Did it for the other post, which I ran into first, so the avatar is in recognition of the day.

The U.S, Declaration of Independence was based in part on the principles laid out in the Declaration of Arbroath.

Both are true. Tartan Day was celebrated first in Canada, but was not officially celebrated in the U.S. until considerably later. A resolution was first passed by the Senate in 1998 and followed by a House bill in 2005.

Some people consider 20 years a generation. (I personally thought the standard was 30, but someone else recently told me otherwise) So that's what I'm basing the statement on.

    Cheers,

Twenty years is the standard for a generation in America, hence the baby boom generation (1944-1964).

Not in Scotland, but they were in Ireland, and for much longer than tartan was banned in Scotland. In fact, I'm not sure if it was ever repealed, but they play them again anyway.

    Genealogists normally assume 30.
