Happy International Tartan Day!
Hello all,
Today marks the anniversary of the Repeal Proclamation of 1782. This act repealed the Act of Proscription (1747) which had for almost two generations forbidden the tartan and pipes. So I wish you all a very happy International Tartan day in celebration!!

Thanks for posting the thread. I didn't know there was an International Tartan Day. I have celebrated National Tartan Day, which is celebrated on April 6, since 2003. Another reason to wear a kilt to work,...oh yeah, would've loved that.
For those not familiar with National Tartan Day, it celebrates the influential role of Scottish-Americans in the development of the United States. April 6th was chosen because on that date in 1320, the Declaration of Arbroath was signed. The U.S, Declaration of Independence was based in part on the principles laid out in the Declaration of Arbroath.
Here's a couple of links for those interested in knowing more about National Tartan Day.

My apologies for the brief highjacking of the thread.
