Apologies. I meant in addition to one's cap badge. On the gentleman I have in mind, he wore his badge in the usual spot and the pins were to the right (or, if you prefer, the rear) of the cap badge.
I'm having a difficult time locating a photo image that will demonstrate what I mean, so I guess this practice is unique to this gentleman. Other replies confirm this.
