How about this for a suggestion.

If anyone wishes to purchase a tie, in the pattern of their choice, that goes with other items in their wardrobe, and is in their price range, they do so.

Then they post pics here with the heading - "Here's my X Marks tie. I think it goes well with my X Marks Tartan Kilt."

This way everyone gets the tie they want. No one is obligated to make any sort of vote or wait for a tie to be ordered, and only those who want to do so need to put forth the expense.

Not to disparage anyone else's taste, but I do not wear striped ties. I know there is relevance to them for others, school ties, regimental ties, etc. That is totally foreign to my California upbringing.

So I hope there is no "official" XMarks tie, since I would then be left out of the "inner circle".

Also, I knew about the XMarks cap badge, but had no idea there were XMarks dandelions in stock. I'll have to head over to that section of the forum again.

I agree with Jock. Not everyone wants to wear something that says "Hey, look at me -- I'm a member of so-and-so!" I prefer more subtle ways to show my membership in an organization, and a club tie is one way to do so. In the same vein, saying that anyone is free to declare their tie the club tie smacks too much of sartorial anarchy for this traditionalist, who loves his collection of club and striped ties -- I guess we in the Midwest are not as sophisticated in our desire to not be part of the inner circle.

Perhaps, then, a club tie for the "Auld Crabbits"? Surely we can come up with something that looks nice in a quick and agreeable manner? If interested, please PM me. I can see what the minimum order is. Hmmm....perhaps brown for being a stick in the mud, white for the dreaded kilt hose, etc....

Sandy, I am a big fan of Ben Silver ties. Please inquire with your friend.

Asser 1 recently worked with Beau Ties in Vermont for another special order club tie. They might be an alternative.

Ooh, brown and white... perfect match for my cowhide sporran!

(need to be random blotches, though, not stripes!)

I'm a bit saddened by this decision; I was rather looking forward to adding an "official" XMarks tie to my wardrobe. Not to accompany my XMarks kilt -- which I don't have -- but to be worn at will with the others. So I'm with you, Sandy, and will share in your "unofficial" version.
