I was thinking it was the 84th Emigrant Regiment, maybe I have my regiments mixed up though

You also have your wars mixed up; the 84th was raised for service in the Revolution, not the F & I.

I know, that is why I thought i had read that they were issued trews. Now, that said, i am not sure whethere it was the 1bn of the 84th was there, I know they were in the Mohawk valley. 
My bad, 26th was at Ticonderoga, 84th were at Ft. St. Jean, and Howe. The battalion in Canada, was allowed to be in full Highland kit.
