Disney is just sooo expensive these days! (I grew up next to Disneyland in So. Cal.) But we still go. Next time will be kilted. (not any time soon for me, though... work interferes)

I know cost is relative, but we are pretty much "all inclusive" at a cost that is comparable to a week-long cruise... except WE ARE AT DISNEY!
At least here in Florida, you can get some fairly hefty resident discounts... we do every year and for about 2g's my family gets to eat their fill at every meal and visit all the parks. We also buy early, and make payments for 1/2 the year leading up to the vacation...

Oops, I think we are straying off topic... but yes, the week vacation we spent at the Grand Floridian is one of the best vacations we've had. Piloting a pontoon boat over the freeway is a mind-blowing experience.

Minor clarification: guest dress code. That "could be considered a costume" line is quite open to interpretation. . .
I almost worked at D'land one summer while in college. Interviewed, accepted the job (told I would be selling popcorn or ice cream from a portable kiosk), then found an office job that would look better on my eventual resume. Called up D'land and gave them the news.
In the meantime, I had already been entered in their "summer job" system. Got a nice letter welcoming me to the family, complete with two tickets to the park so I could "visit one last time as a guest"! My then-BF and I had a nice day there at Walt's expense

That's only if you work there. No beards, and moustaches aren't supposed to go past the end of your mouth on each side (no Fu Man Chu style).
Guests can have beards like ZZ Top, and often do.
I work at Disneyland (the original one in California) and I see kilts all the time. Just day before yesterday in fact, a guy with a shiny black Utilikilt. We see them so often that they don't engender much reaction from anybody.
From what I see (tens of thousands of the "general public" every day) Utilikilts are very popular here on the Left Coast. I see dozens of Utilikilts for every traditional kilt. Usually the Utilikilt wearers are young men from the Pacific Northwest.
About Disneyland being expensive, yes it's amazing how much ticket prices have gone up from when I started there ($15). Any Xmarkers visiting Anaheim contact me and I'll probably be able to hook you up.

Last time I was in Anaheim was World's Strongest Man 2007 - initially it was going to be held at Universal Studios (like the original 1977-1979 World's Strongest Man) but Disney cancelled at the last minute and we held the entire televised competition in the parking lot of the Anaheim Hilton, Venice Beach (for the car walk and stones), and some really ritzy golf course on the PCH (for the carry medley and safe lift).
I envy your weather...

I'm planning on taking my kids to WDW this year and I will most definitely be kilted.
