Re: A story of Kilted Attention or: Why I can't go commando!
While I'm kind of hard-nosed about my personal dignity...I am a hugger. Like ridiculously much.
What I am enjoying about this thread is that the "other side of the coin" is getting a hearing. Pretty much every single "I got kilt-checked" thread on X Marks in past years has bristled with indignation, demands for respect, accounts of loud lectures to the offenders, and so on. All that is fine, and I completely agree with pounding a good lesson into someone who thinks that it's just find to hoist someone's kilt in public because it's fun, or grope a guy in front of his wife because "He wore a kilt, he asked for it", or because you're a teenage girl in a crowd of teenage girls and obnoxious behavior is just *expected*..
you bet...
I think it's just good for the OTHER side to get a hearing once in a while. You know.... the side that says if a lass gives you a wink and happens to swat your kilted backside, maybe that's not always such a bad thing, eh? Maybe such behavior, in particular circumstances, or if you know the lass, might just be A-OK, in fact.

Alan,
Exactly the point I was trying to make about the Ren Faire earlier...at that time, in that place...no harm done. Besides the fact that my wife was laughing so hard she nearly fainted...Then I get a lecture about how after ten years I won't feel that it is no biggie, or that I'm not a "gentleman" because I didn't call the cops...
I responded to 2 posts then decided it was pointless, deleted them, and became the newest "Lewboski." Long live dudes!

To the OP...was any of this discussion helpful in finding ways to deal with the unwanted attention? Obviously the responses ran the gamut from call the cops and file charges to just blow it off. Its a shame you had to leave the concert but perhaps that was the best course of action.

Re: A story of Kilted Attention or: Why I can't go commando!
Excellent, though provoking thread. Thank you all!
Unfortunately, I have nothing to add, since I have only worm my kilt competing in Highland games. But I'll be wearing it on St Patrick's Day in Downtown Huntington Beach, my first time kilted in "public" i guess.
Haven't decided if I'll be regimental or not yet - I'll let my mood guide me on the 17th.
Slante!

Well be prepared to get kilt checked, especially since St. Patrick's Day fall on a Saturday. Everybody and their mother will be out. Well at least in my neck of the woods they will. I always wear black boxer briefs under my kilt that day. I usually have it lifted (by women of course) at least twice by 8:00 a.m. . Please don't take this negatively since this is your first public kilted adventure. Just trying to enlighten you on what happens on a day when women and men are inebriated early in the morning.
