@ cajun...Don't get me wrong...I'm all for lifting the ban because frankly, the crap they sell us here is horrid. It tastes like liver pate` mixed with a dose of ***...

@ AFS...You would think that it does. The problem is in the raw ingredients. One of our band members works for the FDA and is also Clan Mackinnin and says they'll never import it because of the reasons I said. There's no way to make the organs sterile prior to kooking them...and I'd think pre-cooking would ruin it - or - making it al dente [as such] wouldn't really help...

Of all the American versions of the "Great Chieftain", I know a number of expats that like the Caledonian Kitchen's version as a decent substitute.

It's a bit of a local industry here in Ontario, esp of course at this time of year. Maybe WE could export them. This could trigger a trade war, or at least a price war. Cheaper haggis for all!

That article also mentions haggis nachos- are these distict from the haggis crisps (aka potato chips) mentioned in a previous thread? Perhaps someday there will be a future Burns who will write an "Ode Written To A Bag Of Haggis Crisps":

'Ye Chieftain of the crispy race
Packed in foil w' a barcode trace...'

I mean, I would do it but it would be blasphemy for a lesser poet. Plus I've never sampled any.

I have been making this recipe now for two years. http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...-haggis-55264/ Two Burns Suppers and two St Andrews Ceilidhs later no one wants to go back to Caledonian Kitchen.

In a democracy it's your vote that counts; in feudalism, it's your Count that votes.

Seems like quite a tasty recipie, but where is the horror factor that allows me to get extra helpings because first helpings have been refused by others?
