    Re: Soliciting waistcoat ideas

I think the yellow silk one may turn out to be too shiny and a little insubstantial- at least for daywear. In the past ten years or so, there have been a large number of silk waistcoats on the market- they are usually very lightweight and seem best suited to formal wear.

On the other hand, if you like that color, have you considered a pale tan suede one?

I had not considered suede at all. I will, now!

Thanks, Matt. More good ideas to consider.

I thank ALL of you for the input and the pictures.

    Re: Soliciting waistcoat ideas

Just thought I would throw this one out there. I have a matching waistcoat for the jacket, but I occasionally wear the one shown. It's maroon doeskin. I like it with my Paratrooper's Balmoral. Also, I'm not really as much of a sour puss as I look.

    Re: Soliciting waistcoat ideas

Am just in the process of ordering a made to measure moleskin waistcoat from www.janetsteward.co.uk . Incredibly good value for money about £27 dependent on material and whether you want pockets. Made to measure are £5 more than standard stock sizes. Unfortunately she doesnt ship to the States but for us this side of the pond its a bargain. She will also make your waistcoat from material you supply e.g. tweed or tartan, again for incredibly good prices.
