I'd probably go for the camping idea - it's one of the things I miss most about my old stays in the Highlands. There's really nothing quite like opening your tent to see Ben Nevis towering over you or the Isle of Skye in the distance on a warm (yes, they happen sometimes) Scottish morning. The only thing that might throw us when it comes to camping this year is that we had a baby girl 4 months ago, so a tent might not be the most practical idea for the next year or so. Time will tell!
We actually camped in Boone at the KOA Campground a couple of years ago, but it rained non-stop for the whole time we were there. Considering how everyone I speak to tells me that it's always raining where I'm from, I've seen far more of the stuff since moving to NC than I did back home!

Thanks Jock. We were only talking about your neck of the woods yesterday while watching an episode of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. Is the snow sticking?

Hello SB,yes it looks like we are in for a fair bit of snow,it is rather unusual these days to have it at low level as it is now.In my youth,1940's,we would be snowed in for many a week, but I can't remember the last time that happened in recent years.Maybe tomorrow?

I got snowed in while up in Dornie a good few years back (early 90's) and was stuck for 3 days and 2 nights with no phone or other outside-world contact. I was working nights at a call centre back in Liverpool at the time and remember having to beg to be able to keep my job after going AWOL It was actually fun being stuck up there though, and is now a fond memory... much like snow itself these days!
