Here in the South a of of us wear polo shirts with kilts. It's just too warm much of the time to wear anything else.

I would guess it's the same over here. It doesn't seem to be the kilt that causes problems for me except where the waistband and shirt are. The openness of the kilt actually helps.
If I need to dress it up a little, I'll wear a short sleve button down shirt and tie. It really is too hot in the summer to be outside with all the fixings on... People sometimes wear dress pant like shorts and the short sleve with tie along with dressy black leather slides.
I've got several pictures in the gallery and my albums of what I'm talking about.

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I think I'm set on the shirt. I'm going to go with one of these (or similar) .
My biggest concern now is going to be footwear. You see, the Groom will be in full garb, but the rest of us guys are going more casually kilted. Since it's at the beach, I don't think it would be a good idea to go with the full-on socks and nice shoes. Maybe I can find some nice looking slide on sandals as one of you suggested.

Hope it goes well. If several other people there are wearing sandals the slides should be fine. Show us pictures afterwards.

Those are great pictures !

Here is my problem with the jacobite shirt. Unless your wearing a great kilt, you are really mixing two different eras of clothes. I'd wear a more modern shirt with a modern kilt. Just my thoughts, for what that's worth.

I've worn t-shirts, polos, button short sleeves, and fishing/safari type shirts. My favorite tend to be the fishing/safari type shirts. But they are also my favorite when wearing pants also.
I have a couple of "Hawaiian print" shirts I may have to try with my saffron.
