Latest Scottish Adventure #2
On the way back from Jedburgh to the hotel we stopped briefly at Melrose. Here is one the Eildon Hills in the background.
There is a kilt shop in Peebles which I visited (having bought one of their kilt pins at the hotel. This church is just down the road from the shop.
And the view looking up the main street from the shop.
I couldn't resist the humour and irony of this shot at the hotel - look at the plaque and then what is parked below it!
The main entrance to the Barony Hotel - what a wonderful greeting just above the lintel! Yours truly can be seen reflected in the glass.
The Barony Hotel itself. The Scottish Ambulance Service does all its training here and a group had just taken their final exams, getting fairly merry afterwards but got some compliments about my kiltedness, including one that I was the best dressed man in the hotel! A big marquee had been erected behind for a wedding which was going to be in full Highland tradition. The night before the male staff were wandering about in hired kilts from the Peebles kilt shop to try them on but alas I did not have my camera handy as it was the evening meal time. That's Mum stood by the entrance.
Another amusing sign at the hotel.
More to come!

Alas not on this occasion as my Mum was with me and she wouldn't ride pillion!
We went in her car with me doing the chauffeuring. I intend to take my Goldwing up once we have something resembling summer rather than the current monsoon season.

Lovely pics, McClef; nothing like staying in a castle for a true gentleman and his mum.

Trefor, great pics as always. Looks like you were spared the rain on this occasion.

The photo from Melrose is lovely! I've only been there a couple of times, but I think it's one of the nicest places in the Borders (IMO).

Thanks
Unfortunately Mum wanted to get back to the hotel so did not have the chance to explore. It's on my list for my Goldwing trip though!
