    Annual Christmas Tree Hunt

Here are my boys and I as we return from the annual Great Christmas Tree Hunt. Each year we go to cut down our tree. Previously it had been in the mountains of North Carolina for the Frasier Fir. Since the move made a day trip to NC not make sense, we went hunting locally. Frasier firs do not grow well here, so we opted for a close cousin, the Canaan Fir. We stalked our prey, and when it wasn't looking I attacked it with my hand saw, and before it knew what hit it, I had it down on the ground.

I was out in my US Navy kilt from USA kilts and my Thorfinn Sporran. Got a couple of looks, mostly smiles.

Boy does that bring back memories. That was a tradition in my family as well. If the tree didn't hit the ceiling, it was too small. Nice pic.

Nice work. That will teach that tree to mess with someone in a kilt.

    Absolutely!

The tree is right at 10 feet tall. We moved into a new house in June, and it has this great room with ceilings that range from 15 to 20 feet high. I wanted to make sure I got a tree big enough to make good use of the space. Of course, it took a step ladder to get the top decorations and angel on I figure there are about 1000 lights or so on it.

    Thanks!

The tree looks almost like a synthetic one because the shape is so perfect!

You are absolutely correct...we were very surprised. This was honestly the best in the field. Were were somewhat disappointed at first - most of the canaan firs were tall, skinny, and sparse! We wandered a bit, figuring we would have to find another place. Suddenly, this one was right in front of us. Pretty much sitting there all by its lonesome. Don't know why someone else didn't grab it. We were lucky! We'll take it!
