New Kilt + Vest + Sportscoat!

What a great day! UPS delivered my new Sport Kilt in Wallace tartan, phoned the urologist and asked if I could have some beer and he said yes no problem. Went to Old Chicago to work on my winter mini-tour for the free t-shirt, swung over to the Salvation Army store and found this nice tweed sportscoat for $5.00. Then I went to Target to see if there were any of those vests, and sure enough for $27.00 I had a new vest. What a great day.

I blackened the yellow part of this great German sweater that I found in Woodland Park Colorado and you would not believe how warm and comfortable this sweater is, hard to believe its military issue.

Those of you that have visited Rab Gordon’s web site should recognize this backdrop, I used it to photograph one of his Sigan Brews.

    A good beer.

Oh, and I stopped on the way home and bought some new Scotch, I like squirrels and I had already had this beer at Old Chicago’s so I knew it was good.

I think that this sportscoat fits perfect and for five bucks should make a nice conversion into a Scottish kilt coat.

    McMurdo,

Thanks for the kind words, there were two other jackets but too small, and one was even made in Scotland.

Free to a good XMarkers home a 1970 + Sportscoat, or swap for something of equal value.

Nice coat and vest, they go well with the Wallace tartan.

I can relate to that. I don't seem to remember ever being warm in the what the Army described as a jacket (including the liner.)

The waist coat looks great and the jacket looks to be a fun project. Do you plan to DIY?

I can attest to that as well! I have to admit the gear is getting better though. A lot of the stuff that was issued to my unit for our deployment was actually pretty nice. Black fleece jackets, AF flyer gloves (still use them today), Super light brown t-shirts that wick like nothing I've ever seen. Pretty good stuff.
