Just to remind you that on 3rd September 1939 Britain and France declared war on Germany. Germany invaded Poland on 1st September 1939.

    Lest we forget.

It is awesome (in the old sense of the word) what man will do to man.

Thank you for posting this Jock.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

That is certainly worth more than a moment or two of reflection on this day.
Thank you for that reminder, Jock.

And let us also remember that men and women are in harm's way even as we read this.

It's interesting to note that all the nations noted are now allies.

It is very fitting indeed, as many Free Polish Forces trained in Scotland and fought alongside the Allies.

If any nation knows the price of freedom, it is Poland.

I think that France declared war after Britain if memory serves me right a day or two later?

Its just a shame that so many are still dying in just as senseless a fashion IMO.

France declared a deadline of 1700 hrs on 3rd September 1939 and if Germany did not meet France's requirements by that time, a state of war would exist between the two countries. Some will say that France actually declared war with Germany at 1545 hrs on that day.
