My heritage is Campbell, I think Campbell of Cawdor. My ancestor, John Gibson, circa 1650, had owned a fair bit of land that is now called Connecticut. I grew up in Georgia, USA, where the flag of St. Andrew's Cross is still frequently seen.

My (border clan) sweetheart and I have attended many Scottish cultural events. Now, I have convinced him to wear the kilt.

It is my heart's desire to knit some diced kilt hose for him. The directions I have found are strictly one size (does not) fit all. My beau has a 16" calf (muscular), so I'm afraid I'll have to get busy with some graph paper.

Am I the first to fail the entry question? "Some kilts are made of a plaid fabric, what is it called?" My answer was "wool", and was rejected as wrong. Hmmmm. Growing up, I was taught that a plaid is an article of clothing that is draped about or pinned to the shoulder. Plaid fabric is therefore, wool. When I re-answered "tartan", my registration was accepted.
