First time games in Monterey, CA

Hi everyone. I'm planning to enter my first Highland Games on August 6th in Monterey. I have experience in strength athletics, but I've never thrown anything. I'll build a hammer and throwing weights, and hopefully find a stone or two this week, but I could definitely use a watchful eye for a training session or two.

Anyone in Central-Cali throwing for practice?

Yes, I run a group on the San Francisco Peninsula, there's a practice group in Santa Cruz, a couple of throwers in Monterey, and there's an East Bay group.
