I was faced with a similar decision when I came to Hong Kong and opted for the black Argyll. Knowing I would be doing black tie at least once and could wear it for semi-formal too was a great economy when packing my bags.

That is also the conclusion I reached. With both a formal and semi-formal night the black Argyll is much more versatile for both events than a PC or other jacket.

Since Drac will not be on my cruise as we had thought I'm falling back to my wife's request that I take my tux as I usually do (she bought me a special island themed cumberbund to wear in the Caribbean). I will be taking the kilt on our cruise to Canada later in the year.

Drac go for the kilted Pirate look. I am up and down ladders a lot with no problems. A few gals insist on steadying the ladder for me though...

I know....but sometimes you have to keep the wife happy - or it could be a very unpleasant cruise.

We have an agreement: I can wear a kilt on non-Caribbean cruises unless I absolutely know that someone else on the cruise will be wearing a kilt. So its Drac's fault that I can't wear a kilt on this upcoming cruise because he bailed on me!

On the other hand, I'll be doing Canada in September so all is not lost.

Fine throw me under the bus (or ship in this case).

I do have to send my good kilt out this week for cleaning and adjustments so I will have it back in time for the cruise.

Thanks! It wasn't hard at all!

The wife reluctantly agreed that I could wear a kilt on a Caribbean cruise only because there would be another X-Marker and she didn't want me all grumpy because I didn't have mine. When you jumped ship, so to speak, she got this wicked grin and said, "So now you can take your tux." It wasn't a question.

No worries. I've got another opportunity coming up in September.

But she didn't say instead, so you still get the choice. There must be more than one posh do.

Do ya'll have all these 'agreements' in some sort of file you refer to, like Sheldon and Amy's relationship agreement on 'The Big Bang Theory'? Or does she just tell you what to do on a case by case basis ?
