As such the masterpiece hat the Falkirk wheel is, I'm sure that Wales has her share of canal engineering masterpieces also.

Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Llangollen canal northern Wales.
Opened in 1805 this 1007 foot aqueduct rises 121 feet above the river Dee.

But I am sure that Thomas Telford would have approved ccga! 
He could build an aqueduct to link canals at equal height but there was only the lock to raise boats between different heights.

There was also the inclined plane and boat lift (Anderton), there is also the submarine lock that they're trying to find and excavate.

The Anderton Lift was built in 1875, Telford died in 1834.
