    thank you i had a feeling as much but i wasnt sure so i figured id ask the experts ... i might have bought some in my buchanan tartan or one of the military tartans from the site but where could i wear plaid pants (even tartan) outside of a golf course punk show or annual pimps convention

    Panache is spot on. Though I think what many merchants sell as "trews" these days are just tartan trousers, without the high waist.

    As for wearing trews any formal occassion would be fine and I would imagine that they would work very well with a tweed jacket and turtleneck.

    I have to get off this thread as the F-H.C.A.G. is fast approaching and trews are verboten in this household by order of a higher power*.

    I've been contemplating getting some trews to wear with my Argyll jacket for those days when we have 50-60 mph gusts... Man I love living in the high desert.
