One thing that I often don't think about is that wearing the kilt is very obvious to others. I am comfortable wearing the kilt and neither my wife nor I see it as an unusual thing anymore, but when you wear the kilt you are standing out in the crowd, whether you know it or not. I think that's why comments like those previously mentioned catch me off guard - I'm not thinking that any thing is unusual, and I guess I assume that no one else is either. Obviously this is wrong - if you wear the kilt, you will be noticed by many. I think that people wear Dockers and jeans so that they will blend in - a very different situation.
