One thing that I often don't think about is that wearing the kilt is very obvious to others. I am comfortable wearing the kilt and neither my wife nor I see it as an unusual thing anymore, but when you wear the kilt you are standing out in the crowd, whether you know it or not.
Those comments are fab, they do lift the spirits, but I've also noticed that the more comfortable you are in the kilt, sometimes the less other people notice. I've had people do a double take once it dawns on them that I'm not wearing pants after speaking with me at some length or transacting some sort of business.
