mint julep?
I like how the BeloitPiper makes a mint julep part of my costume. I wish I had one now. With spring coming early, hopefully my mint will start growing soon.
I've never owned a seersucker suit, but I wouldn't mind having one. Then, Ah say, then, Ah could hobnob and rub elbows with the genteel folk in mah environs, and could possibly, Ah say, could possibly gain a tight toehold on bein' paht of thayuh society, instead of wallowin' around with the sort of riff-raff with whom Ah'm usually associated.

If you are a devotee of the mint julep, do you know about this?

And specifically, the julep ceremony:

Todd, I do thank you heartily for a most inspiring bit of correspondence. To my shame and disgrace, I have been ignorant of the late Mr. Buckner's congenial and ethereal instructions for concocting that most refreshing of summertime beverages.
Now, however, since we all have been made aware of the proper ceremony surrounding said luxury, might I humbly propose that we all plant a goodly portion of mint in our gardens, thereby enabling ourselves, when the notion strikes, to prepare and enjoy one (or perhaps two) of these worthy libations?

I've never had one (I'm not allowed to, as I am a "yankee"), but I'm told they're simply divine! Oh, it's giving me the vapors!

BP,
You could drink one, but you can't make them, just as I can't make lutefisk or hotdish.

I don't know.
I did grow up around Southwestern cowboys, as well as, a few of theSouthwestern tribes. The same for the Hispanic and Mexican culture.
I'm not really a part of any of those cultures, and I know the cowboys, at least, can be defencive about outsiders wearing their clothing. Same for the others...
Perhaps jeans... but it all seems to have come from somewhere else or belong to someone else.
Would I get upset about someone wearing their own national garb with jeans?
No way! I'm sure it is done all the time. In fact I might even be a little honored by that.
I don't know what to make of it.
